The First Hybrid Estate Agent…

…Often imitated, never bettered.

David Laycock and Glenn Ackroyd launched EweMove’s franchise in 2013.

David had spent years heading up the Customer Services division at Barclays and Glenn had been a property lawyer, spending his days unraveling the mess left behind by high street Estate and Letting Agents.

They quit their jobs to fulfill their dreams of becoming property investors.

After amassing significant property portfolios David and Glenn realised they were spending too much time managing the issues caused by sales and letting agents. All of the agents were using second-rate systems and had chaotic processes, which inevitably led to miscommunication and problems.

Technology had moved on but the industry hadn’t so David and Glenn pooled their resources and experience to develop a better solution.

In 2013 they created the UK’s first local hybrid agency with both a national operations centre and local property managers right around the UK.

The idea was simple. To create a new kind of estate agency which had local property experts and unparalleled customer service at its heart.

Unlike traditional estate agents who’d specialise in either sales or lettings, EweMove agents would become experts in both sides of the equation, allowing them to thrive in any housing market.

The key focus was to deliver great customer service and with the aid of new technology, to make the customer journey simple and hassle-free.

EweMove was launched as a nationwide franchise, with a clear vision to…

…become the UK’s most trusted sales and lettings agent,

…provide customers with unrivalled support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,

…and have a EweMove sales and lettings branch in every town and city in the UK

Making the EweMove dream a reality wasn’t easy. EweMove’s unique hybrid model required it’s own IT system, built from scratch (called ‘Ewereka!’) which would be the foundation for the unrivalled customer support proposition, allowing people to book viewings online or submit tenancy applications in the middle of the night when most traditional agents were fast asleep.

Whilst EweMove’s swanky IT has won numerous awards for innovation, the most important factor in EweMove’s success is the business culture, which stems from bringing on franchise partners who have to be great ‘people people’.

Each franchisee is a real property expert and is devoted to serving their local community. They hold their customer’s hand from start to finish and become their trusted property friend. This ethos has resulted in almost half of EweMove’s business coming from personal recommendations.

EweMove’s success has not gone unnoticed. On the back of growing very quickly and having such outstanding customer reviews, the business has won lots of prestigious industry awards.

Whilst they’ve sold and managed thousands of properties, EweMove never judge success by the number of properties listed. Their focus is on providing an exceptional customer experience because they believe that business success is just a byproduct of delivering great service.

That’s why their proudest achievement is being rated ‘The No.1 Most Trusted Estate Agent’ based upon independent customer reviews on the consumer website Trustpilot.

EweMove is built on rock-solid foundations. It’s part of The Property Franchise Group with over 590 offices managing in excess of 73,000 houses.

EweMove have won lots of shiny awards for; ‘Innovation’, ‘Marketing’, ‘Best New Estate Agency’, ‘Best Estate Agency To Work For’, ‘Best Estate Agency Franchise’ and ‘Best Hybrid’.

Based upon shed loads of customer reviews, we’re the most trusted estate agency brand in the UK (source: Trustpilot)

meet our shepherds

Here’s the EweMove Management Team who look after the flock…

Nick Neill – Head Shepherd

Nick is our MD and one of the biggest EweMove fans around.

He started as a franchisee in 2014 and grew his York business to a Top 10 Player in the town in just 3 years, achieving one of the lowest levels of price reduction, fastest sale times and highest values achieved against asking price of any agent, helping launch EweMove to gain and retain its No.1 spot on Trustpilot as the Most Trusted Agent in the UK.

With Nick’s wealth of experience in Sales, Marketing and Operations, he is poised to take EweMove to its next level of growth as we continue to take the UK property market by storm.

Sarah Makin – Marketing Manager

She joined EweMove after working at a Digital Marketing Agency to head up our marketing team.

Her team oversee the £2 million+ annual marketing spend of the network. We centrally manage pay-per-click, direct mail, bulk leaflet delivery, PR and design work on behalf of our franchisees.

Ed Riley & Chris Webb – Business Development Managers

Ed began his estate agency career in 1993 with another Property Franchise Group brand, Whitegates. Having been in the franchising side of the business since 2003, he has a good knowledge of what works and what doesn’t and has fully embraced the non-high street model of estate agency.

Chris has over 15 years of industry experience in both sales and lettings. He has previously worked for independent, corporate and franchised estate agency businesses in the South.

Ed and Chris oversee training, business coaching and productivity for all of our franchisees. Ed covers the north and Chris looks after the south.

Deborah Lofthouse – Operations Manager

Deborah joined the EweMove team in 2014 after previously working in the travel industry.

Deborah makes sure that everything at EweMove HQ ‘The Sheep Pen’ runs smoothly and that the team and network are following all of the right processes.

Deborah’s team also has the important responsibility of ensuring that our landlords and franchisees get paid and that the lettings side of our business runs like a well-oiled machine.

Andy Pickup – Head of IT

Andy began his career in IT working in a busy support department for a garden centre in Surrey and oversaw one of the UK’s pilot projects for remote chip and pin – on a 155 acre farm!

He then went on to join a finance system consultancy practice where he travelled the world and worked with some of the biggest brands both on the high street and online.

Andy joined Ewemove in 2018 and has been focused on keeping our IT ahead of the curve, eagerly monitoring the latest trends in PropTech and delivering added value for our franchisees.

Hannah Pepper – Recruitment Manager

Hannah has been instrumental in the incredible growth of EweMove.

Hannah has a key role in determining whether or not applicants should be allowed into our flock. Only nice ‘people people’ with entrepreneurial spirit can cross the threshold.

Her most important role is looking after Polly – the office Sheepdog.

Polly – FD (Feline Defence)

Well actually she’s a cocker spaniel and she’s the first member of our team to greet any guests. She loves sniffing out opportunities and hunting out ways to make the Sheep Pen (that’s what we call the office) a happier place.
