Having lived and worked across the area for over 20 years, as well as commuting to various nearby towns and cities, I’m well aware of the benefits of the market town of Bury and surrounding villages, including my home village of Summerseat with its mix of easy motorway access, countryside views and steam train links.
Overlooked by Peel Tower, the area is part of the historic county of Lancashire but is part of the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester since April 1st 1974 (depending on which local you talk to...) and includes the villages of Birtle, Nangreaves, Walshaw, Walmersley, Affetside and so on, along with Burrs Country Park on the River Irwell.
With its mix of charming countryside villages, town centre living, traditional family suburbs and commuter-belt homes, the borough of Bury provides a true range of properties for all budgets and lifestyles. The area delivers great access to Manchester city centre, either on the motorway or Bee Network & Metrolink, along with picturesque countryside walks, museums, markets and great network links to nearby post-industrial towns or across the Pennines.
